We have made this website to celebrate the life of John Franke. In doing so, we are hopeful that friends and relatives will have a place where they can tell stories, share pictures, and provide Aleena with glimpses of her father. In addition we would like to encourage visitors to take action in the fight against brain cancer.
Whether you take part in the annual brain cancer walk (virtual this year) on Sunday May 1, 2022, or donate (Select Designation: Other and type in Ivy Center) to the Ivy Center through the Swedish Medical Center Foundation, you can make a difference. Brain cancer claims an estimated 13,000 lives a year in the U.S., but we have some gifted doctors who are fighting to change that. Dr. Greg Foltz
Dr. Foltz was John's neurosurgeon. Sadly, he is no longer with us having passed away from cancer. He was not only a brilliant doctor, but he was passionate about his work and cared deeply for his patients. John knew him throughout his illness, remembered who he was until the end, and trusted him. When John was checked in for the final time, Dr. Foltz would visit him each night. His legacy lives on in the Ivy Center, and the Seattle Brain Cancer Walk - and the countless peoples who's lives he touched, the patients and the families who were lucky enough to have him as their doctor.
Dr. Sheldon Goldberg
Dr. Goldberg was John's oncologist. John received great care from the team at Swedish - they are a dedicated bunch, all committed to finding a cure.
